2019 KAWS Conference
Kansas Alliance of Weavers and Spinners
October 11-12, 2019
Lyon County Historical Center
711 Commercial Street, Emporia, KS
Celebrate the fiber arts with the Flint Hills Weaver’s Guild, Emporia Fiber House and the Lyon County Historical Center!
This year, we are hosting a fun-filled, less structured KAWS conference. A few of the activities we will address are upcycling, weaving, and a spin-in. In addition, there will be a “cakewalk” that includes fiber prizes, many vendors, and a hanging fashion show. We are honored to have Melinda Chiroy as the keynote speaker.
Please bring a few extra materials for your fiber pleasure: a small bag of thrums/left over yarns, a few favorite shank buttons, scissors, paint/dye apron, and a tapestry needle. These materials may be used in the following activities/classes:
- Stitching Penny “Rugs”
- Crafting Yarn Birds
- Creating Scissor Fobs
- Pin Loom Weaving
- Painting Cheater’s Batik
- Dye Transfer Silk Scarf (This is the only class that requires a fee of $5.00 and
5 vintage 100% silk neckties.) - Weaving
This is just a sampling of the many exciting activities we have planned!
